Number of Keywords

Keywords play a crucial role in Google search campaigns. They allow you to specify the theme of your Ads and reach the right audience.

However, more doesn't always mean better. We recommend having 15-30 keywords in each Ad Group. If there are fewer, the Ad likely won't generate impressions. If there are more, Ad Group may potentially be better split into smaller, more focused groups.

There should be a total of at least 500 keywords on the account to effectively utilize the allocated advertising budget.

How does PING work?

PING analyzes all enabled campaigns on your Google Ads account (excluding smart campaigns) and informs you about the state of keywords.

You'll learn about amount of enabled keywords in your Ad Groups and the total on the account, whether there are too few or too many, along with tips for changes.

The number of keywords is presented after all the changes made by PING (as part of PING + Assistant) such as pausing keywords with a Quality Score below 3.

How to add keywords?

Select the Ad Group to which you want to add keywords and click on the (+) "Keywords."

Use keyword planner to find the most effective keywords.

After entering a few ideas, other related suggestions will appear that you can use in your campaign.

Select keywords you want to choose, copy and paste them into your Ad Group.
