Number of Ad Groups

Campaign structure in Google Ads consists of several components, allowing for precise management and optimization at various stages.

  • Campaign

  • Ad groups

  • Keywords

  • Ads

  • Assets


Each campaign comprises of Ad groups, which are collections of related keywords and Ads. Creating well-organized groups is crucial for an effective campaign, enabling the customization of Ad content for specific user queries.


Google Ad Grants Policy

According to the Google Ad Grants policy, each Campaign must consist of at least two Ad Groups.

How does PING work?

PING analyzes all enabled campaigns on your Google Ads account (excluding smart campaigns).


The amount of Ad Groups in the Campaign is presented after any changes made by PING (as part of PING + Assistant), for example, after pausing an Ad group with too few Ads.


If your campaigns do not contain at least two Ad groups:

  • PING: You will receive a notification and tips what to do.

  • PING + Assistant:  Assistant will automatically pause Campaigns that violate the rules and inform you about it.


How to add a new Ad Group?

To add a new Ad Group, click on the existing Campaign, and then click on the (+) "Create Ad Group."



Choose appropriate keywords, headlines, descriptions and set the new Ad Group. If your Campaign was previously paused, remember to re-enable it.
